FAQs
How does it work?
TorqueXpert SD (TXSD) is a hardware-software system. It collects key parameters from the vehicle’s OBD: engine RPM, speed, and time. Unique algorithms, based on the laws of physics and mathematics, then calculate tractive force and account for external losses such as aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, mass inertia, drivetrain losses, and other factors.
As a result, the system generates power and torque graphs comparable to measurements from a professional dyno. While a dyno simulates the road on rollers, TXSD performs the same calculations directly on a real stretch of road. This ensures accurate and practical results. To perform a test, you only need one gear and a straight, safe road.
What is OBD?
OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics) is a universal diagnostic standard that has been implemented in almost all modern cars since around 2001. It is the same across all brands and models - whether it’s a Ford, Mercedes, or Ferrari, it doesn’t matter.
Through the OBD2 port, you can access data such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, throttle position, fuel consumption, and diagnostic trouble codes.
For TorqueXpert SD, OBD2 is the source of the key parameters required to calculate power and torque. By connecting an OBD adapter to the diagnostic port, the system gathers the necessary data to build accurate performance graphs without additional sensors or modifications.
Where can I ask questions?
You can contact our support team directly in Telegram, and also find useful materials and tips in our Telegram channel. We actively communicate with users there, sharing updates, test examples, and insights.
Are there any fees?
At the moment, the project is running in test mode. Requests are processed through our Telegram bot and this is completely free. In the near future, we will launch our own OBD adapter along with Android and iOS applications. The service will then become paid but fully automated, offering many additional functions beyond graph building and power calculation. The cost will be significantly lower than a test on a real dyno. Stay tuned for our updates.
How do you know the results are accurate?
We have repeatedly compared TorqueXpert SD measurements with dyno results on different cars. The power and torque graphs match with high accuracy. Our system’s algorithms are based on the same physical models used in professional dynos. It’s important to note that accuracy directly depends on how the log is recorded: the road must be straight, and the test should be done in one gear. In the future, with our proprietary app and OBD adapter, this will no longer be an issue, the process will be fully automated, and all calculations will be performed automatically.
Can I record a vehicle log myself?
Yes, of course, you can do this yourself using a logger suitable for your car model. For example, VCDS for VAG group cars, Vehicle as a universal logger with high speed, Alfa OBD and other tools for their brands. When recording logs yourself, you’ll need to process the request through our Telegram bot, which provides detailed instructions. In addition, our Telegram channel shares useful tips, test examples, and much more. In the future, the entire process will be automated through our app and proprietary OBD scanner, so you won’t have to worry about anything.
